01
The equipment already installed.
The make, model, condition and intended connection influence whether the phone can stay, whether a compatible gateway is an option or whether a fuller replacement is justified. Retaining suitable parts changes the work involved; it does not establish a saving without assessment.
The number of lifts and the way their equipment is arranged can also affect the proposal. Do not assume a single connection or subscription is suitable for an entire building.
02
The practical work at the site.
- Connection equipment: a gateway, suitable interfaces or a complete telephone replacement.
- Power: the supply, relevant backup equipment and any work needed to support the agreed path.
- Signal and antenna: site assessment, equipment position and any agreed antenna or cable work.
- Access: building arrangements, safe access requirements and coordination with other contractors.
- Retained parts: which passenger interfaces, cables or equipment can remain suitable.
These factors should appear in the scope so you can understand what the quotation covers.
03
Installation, testing and handover.
Allow for installation and coordinated commissioning rather than comparing the hardware cost alone. The responsible engineer and receiving service need to agree the relevant checks and record the result.
A useful handover identifies the installed equipment, retained components, connection services and responsibilities. Read the installation and testing guide
04
Separate one-off work from recurring charges.
Ask whether line rental, a SIM service, call answering, monitoring or future maintenance is included, arranged separately or outside the proposal. Confirm who holds each contract and pays renewals.
This website does not publish a standard SIM tariff or standalone monitoring offer. No price bands or universal installation prices are shown because the site-specific scope has not yet been assessed.
05
Compare quotations on the same scope.
- Check the equipment make, model and variant, including what stays.
- Look for power, signal, access and installation work.
- Confirm the test and handover scope.
- Identify each recurring charge and contract holder.
- Ask about exclusions, support and a future provider handover.
Start an enquiry with the postcode and what you need to resolve. The model is helpful if known, but “I don’t know” is an acceptable starting point.
