01
Start with an assessment of the arrangement.
Forge supports modern lift systems and legacy equipment. The initial discussion establishes the location, the reason for the enquiry and what is already known about the alarm and connection.
The assessment or site visit needed is agreed before work is booked. It is not automatically a free inspection. Established service coverage is London and the South East; availability is confirmed for the site.
02
Agree equipment, access and responsibilities.
- The telephone, passenger interfaces and connection equipment to retain or replace.
- Any signal assessment, antenna work, cabling and power requirements.
- Access arrangements, coordination and any planned interruption.
- Who provides the line or SIM, receives calls and arranges assistance.
- Installation, commissioning, records and separately agreed recurring services.
The quotation should identify what is included and what depends on another provider. Hardware supply alone does not arrange a receiving service.
03
Coordinate the end-to-end checks.
Testing should be arranged with the responsible engineer and the receiving service. The agreed checks should address the actual system, including the speech path, identification of the correct lift and the relevant backup arrangements.
The applicable equipment functions and installation requirements need competent review. A product conformity statement or successful outgoing call alone is not a certification of the complete installed system.
The receiver needs to know when a test is taking place and which lift it concerns. Use the agreed process with the people responsible for the system.
04
Keep a useful handover record.
Ask for the installed model and variant, the retained equipment, connection details, test outcome and any outstanding actions. Keep the record where the building team and future maintenance provider can find it.
Agree responsibility for test calls, equipment maintenance, battery condition, service renewal and action if communication is lost. Record access to configuration and any contract or SIM ownership terms.
05
Make the ongoing arrangement explicit.
An installation quotation does not automatically include a continuing maintenance, monitoring or call-answering contract. Discuss the actual support arrangement, its provider and charges before accepting the proposal.
For ongoing care of the wider lift, explore Forge Lifts’ planned maintenance services on the main company website. Any maintenance agreement is scoped separately from the autodialler installation.
If management or maintenance providers change, include the alarm records and communication services in the handover. Check that account ownership and receiving details remain understood.
Common questions
A little more clarity.
Can you assess a lift outside London and the South East?
That is the established service area. Share the postcode so Forge can confirm availability for your site; this website does not promise nationwide installation.
What should I send before a visit?
The postcode, number of lifts, reason for the enquiry and any existing records. Model information is useful if already known. Do not access restricted lift areas to find it.
